This Webinar explored answers to this question as Mary LeFever and Kim Lightle, from the Middle School Portal, introduced a new model of science curricula and instruction that includes 1) core concepts; 2) learning progressions; and 3) the four strands of science proficiency. They took a look at what science topics to teach, when to teach them, and how to teach them and talked about the why. They also examined resources that support this new model.
