For Presenters

Congratulations presenters!
If you are checking this page, you have probably received your letter informing you that your session proposal was accepted for National Middle School Association's 36th Annual Conference and Exhibit (NMSA09).

If you do not know the status of your presentation proposal, call 1-800-528-NMSA (6672).

Please feel free to make suggestions about what you would like to see on the presenter page and how you would like it organized. E-mail me at dherlensky@nmsa.org.

Concurrent Session Presenters

Congratulations on the acceptance of your session for NMSA's 36th Annual Conference & Exhibit. Acceptance packets were mailed on June 8, 2009. If you did not receive your packet, please contact Douglas Herlensky at dherlensky@nmsa.org and a new packet will be mailed to you.

What happens now?
In your packet, you have received the following items:

  • Acceptance Letter
  • Presenter Agreement Form
  • Presenter Registration Form
  • Book Sales Form

Presenter Agreement Form
Please mail or fax your completed form as soon as possible. If your form has not yet been received, the session is subject to cancellation. If you have co-presenters, you can add them to your agreement form and attach additional pages if necessary. Also, please note that there are check boxes next to the various parts of the Program Book Info section. Please check the box next to each line that you want to exclude from the printed material. If you do not have your presenter agreement form, you can download a blank version of the form here.

Audio Visual Order Form
This is also where you order Audio/Visual equipment for use in your session. NMSA subsidizes the cost of A/V items and makes the following items available for you to order:

  • NOTE: LCD Projector — Thanks to our AV contractor this year, an LCD projector and screen will be available in all meeting rooms at no cost. This opportunity may not be possible in future years, but we are pleased to be able to offer this technology solution to all presenters this year.
  • Visual Display (Cork) Board — This is a large cork board for you to use to pin up display items. Presenters are NOT permitted to tape or pin anything on the walls of meeting room. For this reason, we offer you this display board, but it must be ordered to ensure one will be in your meeting room.
  • Flip Chart/Markers — Flip chart paper on an easel (with markers) is available for a nominal rental cost. This is not self-adhesive paper. If you want to order this item and also want to post this information in the room, you should also order a visual display board.
  • Overhead Projector/Screen — This is the overhead projector schools have been using for years that require the creation of transparencies to use.
  • VHS Player/Monitor — A VHS player and a TV screen is available for rent for your session. If the session is too large for a standard television screen, the VHS player will be connected to a projector at no extra cost.
  • DVD Player/Monitor — A DVD player and a TV screen is available for rent for your session. If the session is too large for a standard television screen, the DVD player will be connected to a projector at no extra cost.
  • Computer Audio Sound Patch — If you plan to use audio as part of a computer presentation, you should order a computer audio sound patch. This provides a jack that plugs into your computer’s headphone connection and projects your computer sound through the house speakers. This can also be used for projecting sound from iPods and other portable audio players.
  • Wireless Internet Access — If you require a connection to the internet for your presentation, you can order a wireless internet connection. We will provide you with an access code that will be valid from 30 minutes before your session until the end of your session.
  • Laptop PC — We always recommend that presenters use their own computers for presentations; however, traveling with electronic equipment is not always possible. For this reason, you can order a laptop computer for your presentation. This is a Windows-based laptop with basic software, such as PowerPoint. Mac computers are not available.

Book Sales Form
If you are an author, NMSA may be able to offer your book to conference attendees in the NMSA bookstore at the conference. Just complete the form and mail it to NMSA with a copy of your book for review. For questions about selling your book at the conference, contact Peggy Rajala at prajala@nmsa.org.

What about my co-presenters?
When you return your Presenter Agreement Form, you will be able to add co-presenters to your session. After we receive these forms, letters and registration forms will be mailed to all added co-presenters.

When will I know when I am scheduled to present?
The session schedule is now available online. Click on the Concurrent Session link on the left and locate your session there. You will also be notified vie e-mail and letter of your session date, time, and location.
