National Middle School Association is pleased to share Expressions from the Middle, featuring podcasts by young adolescents. A call for student podcasts was issued early in the school year for the October celebration, and we received submissions from students around the world. Available on iTunes.

Every young adolescent deserves to have a guide to survive middle school. We know that we would have liked a guide when we were just starting. We did this project in a way so that students can relate to everyday situations. All young adolescents should stick to these rules to have a fun, safe, and productive year.

Megan Gray and Mrs. Stern's Social Studies Class (3:24)

"Messenger of Friendship: Miss Ibaraki" is a community service project from the 2006-07 school year. Mr. Diener (Technology Integrator) and Mrs. Ethel Stern (Social Studies Teacher) were given the opportunity to produce a 5-episode podcast series for the Milwaukee Public Museum about Miss Ibaraki, the Museum's 70-year-old Japanese Friendship Doll. Miss Ibaraki (a.k.a. Miss Tsukuba) returned to Japan in 2006-07 for a full restoration. The podcast series is a first person story of the doll's journey back to her homeland.
